‘Guanajuato’s Bright Lights, Camera, Action’
Bringing the voices of young Guanajuato residents to the forefront, the National Action Party (PAN) Parliamentary Group has launched a new project called ‘Guanajuato’s Bright Lights, Camera, Action’.
Empowering Youth Through Film
Spearheaded by Susana Bermúdez Cano, local representative of the 11th district of Irapuato, this initiative aims to promote engagement and listen to the perspectives of young Guanajuato residents. Through a short film contest, participants are encouraged to share their thoughts and opinions on five main themes: community development, environment, security and social peace, youth in Guanajuato, and corruption.
The PAN invites individuals between the ages of 18 and 29 to create a short film ranging from 3 to 5 minutes that explores their chosen theme. The contest encourages teamwork, with groups of 5 to 10 members welcome to participate. There are no restrictions on editing or creativity.
An Opportunity for Expression
«Our goal is to understand how young individuals perceive these critical topics and address any issues they highlight through their videos,» stated Bermúdez.
The submission period for the contest runs from Friday, July 14 to Sunday, August 13. Participants must send their entries to cortometrajesgppan@congresogto.gob.mx. Upon submission, participants must complete a registration form and provide authorization for the videos to be published on official party platforms and social media channels. The PAN representatives are collaborating with the Party’s Direct Committee, Youth Action, and community engagement to ensure that students from various universities across the state have access to the call for entries.
Unleashing Creativity
The format of the videos is entirely open-ended and will be evaluated by a jury composed of specialists in cinematography and related fields. After the submission deadline, 5 winners will be selected and recognized at a gala event on August 18th at 6 pm.
The first-place winner will receive a cash prize of $20,000 pesos, the second-place winner $15,000 pesos, the third-place winner $10,000 pesos, the fourth-place winner $5,000 pesos, and the fifth-place winner a laptop. «We believe that this is a tremendous opportunity for young people to find motivation and express themselves,» Bermúdez emphasized.
Support Throughout the Process
Lastly, Bermúdez assured that the 21 state representatives will be available on social media and via email to address any questions or concerns from aspiring participants. The ‘Guanajuato’s Bright Lights, Camera, Action’ project promises to be a platform for young voices to shine and inspire change.
